Health promotion via behaviour change: life style, addiction and health
David French is Professor of Health Psychology at Coventry University. He completed his PhD at Guys, Kings and St Thomas Medical School, University of London. This was followed by a Wellcome Trust Training Fellowship in Health Services Research at the Institute of Public Health, University of Cambridge, then lecturing at the University of Birmingham, before moving to Coventry University. His research centres on the development and evaluation of interventions to change behaviours which impact on health. He has a particularly interest in interventions to increase walking, a behaviour which is more acceptable than many forms of physical activity, especially the most sedentary. His research has been funded by bodies including the MRC, NIHR, Department of Health (England), The Wellcome Trust, and several NHS Trusts. He has published over 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals, including six in the BMJ. He is Associate Editor for official journals of the British Psychological Society and European Health Psychology Society: British Journal of Health Psychology and Psychology & Health.
